Poi Spinning with Nadia

Nadia, a student of Memphis Raqs, is an accomplished poi spinner and will be sharing her talents with us in a poi workshop. Poi spinners improve their coordination, and upper body strength while developing dexterity in beautiful geometric patterns.

Poi, meaning 'ball' in Maori,  is an ancient art form developed in New Zealand. Generally, a ball suspended on a cord is swung in rhythmic patterns around the body in a combination martial arts/dance form. Poi and fire-spinning have made their way into the bellydance world in recent years by incorporating the beautiful patterns with serpentine tribal movements.

*This workshop is a continuation of the basics, so students should already know the basics on spinning poi before taking this workshop*

Register by emailing liz@memphisraqs.com

This is a very limited workshop with regards to space, so you must register in order to reserve your spot.
